About The Accelerator

MassChallenge UK opens its 4th Cohort in 2026 connecting high-potential startups to experts, corporations & communities to deliver growth & impact. Based in East London, our programme is focused on AI & Autonomy and Cybersecurity, as well as Foodtech & Agritech, working with our partners (BAE Systems, Whitworth Bros., Tate & Lyle, Marriott Harrison, University of East London, Queen Mary University) to identify and accelerate the best technical innovators in this field.

Our MassChallenge Switzerland Partner Group (Bühler, Givaudan, dsm-firmenich, Louis Dreyfus Company, SIG) also actively participate in our focus areas.

The 2026 programme will accept applications from any industry. In addition, we’ll run 2 tracks that focus on startups using AI & Autonomy and Cybersecurity and Foodtech & Agritech to transform industries and society.

The programme will run from June to October.

Startups in the UK programme will have the opportunity to compete for the no strings attached, non-dilutive prize money from MassChallenge Switzerland, and a further £20,000 in UK prize money to the best UK startups in the programme.

The UK Startup cohort will again benefit from the close collaboration with the MassChallenge Switzerland programme. Acceleration will take place with events in-person in London and Lausanne, and online activities throughout the programme. We will finish in October with an Awards Ceremony in London.

Industry Focuses

AI & Autonomy and Cybersecurity

AI is evolving at increasing speed and new capabilities are continuously emerging. We see significant opportunities in autonomous control & decision making. We are looking for new technologies in the following areas:

  • Edge Ai & Autonomy For Contested & Disconnected Operations. Deploying intelligent, autonomous systems that can sense, decide, and act locally, without relying on constant connectivity.
  • Ai-Enabled Decision Superiority & Command Support. Using AI to rapidly fuse data, assess options, and surface clear, timely recommendations that help leaders make better decisions under pressure. It prioritises speed, clarity, and confidence by reducing cognitive overload and enabling effective command even in complex, uncertain, or degraded environments.
  • Trustworthy, Verifiable & Safe AI. Defence-grade AI must be explainable, auditable, robust, and certifiable. Trust is the prerequisite for operational deployment.
  • Cybersecurity & AI. LLM’s have a number of different vulnerabilities, these weaknesses leave AI systems open to prompt injection attacks that override system controls, leak sensitive data, or manipulate model behaviour. Risks include unauthorized data access, jailbreaking safety guardrails, and exposing private information from training data or conversations.

Agtech & FoodtechAdvances in Agtech and Foodtech are unlocking new ingredient, processing, and formulation capabilities for the global food industry. This programme brings together the largest multi-national food corporations, world-class mentorship from food experts, and tailored curriculum focused on food. We also accept startups from other sectors and industries that are creating positive impact and would benefit from the programme’s mentorship, content, and partner connections.can contain security weaknesses that expose AI systems to prompt injection attacksLLM’s have a number of different vulnerabilities, these weaknesses leave AI systems open to prompt injection attacks that override system controls, leak sensitive data, or manipulate model behaviour. • A concept that is scalable; startups must be able to show how their solution scales and that their pricing is market competitive.
  • Less than £3M capital raised and £3m sales; you do not need to be incorporated. What’s important is the impact, viability, and scalability of your idea.
  • A strategic connection with the UK; Some physical accelerator events are in Switzerland and you should be prepared to travel for up to 10 days over 4 months. Additionally, you will be required to travel to London at different times during the Accelerator, but don’t worry, we will have an office space provided for you.
